<h2>Electronic Wait Lists</h2>
<p>A wait list is an electronic list of students who wish to register for a closed class. Not all academic departments offer a wait list. You are not billed and may not obtain textbooks for a class for which you are wait-listed. Keep in mind that placing yourself on an electronic wait list does not guarantee you a seat in the class. You may place yourself on the wait list for more than one section of the same course. Once enrolled, you are financially responsible for the course.</p>
<p>To place yourself on an electronic wait list via <a href="https://ssb.siue.edu/">CougarNet:</a></p>
<ul>
<li>From the Add/Drop menu item, click on search at the bottom of the page.</li>
<li>Write down the CRN number for the course and section for which you intend to wait-list. Also note the number of people on the wait list to remember your starting point on the list.</li>
<li>Return to the add/drop page</li>
<li>Enter the CRN in one of the empty boxes at the bottom of the page.</li>
<li>Click submit</li>
<li>You will receive an error message stating the course is full with an active wait list. Under “action,” pull down to select wait list, then click submit to place yourself on the wait list.</li>
</ul>
<p>Wait-listed courses do not appear on your "Week at a Glance." This schedule is a record of the courses in which you are enrolled. Moving from a wait list into the actual course requires action by the instructor/department, and is not an automatic occurrence, so you may see seats available and an active wait list. You can monitor enrollment status by checking Registration History. Once you are enrolled in a course, it will appear on your Week at a Glance. When a wait-listed class has been added to your schedule, you will be sent an notification to your SIUE e-mail address. It will be your responsibility to ensure that your SIUE e-mail is accessed to receive notification and that you check CougarNet to be sure your class schedule is correct.</p>
<p>If you are not enrolled in a wait-listed class before the first day of the class, you should obtain a Registration Form from the Service Center, Rendleman Hall 1309, go to the first class meeting, and ask if the instructor will permit you to add the class. If the professor is willing to add you to the course, get his/her signature on the Registration Form and submit the form to the Service Center. The professor also may give you a Class Permit Card (also called a "closed class card"). If the instructor gives you a permit card, submit it to the Service Center, Rendleman Hall 1309, to officially enroll in the course. After officially enrolling in the course, print your schedule from your CougarNet account and bring it to Textbook Services to obtain the book(s) for the course.</p>
