Annual Gifts

Every year SIUE School of Pharmacy alumni, parents and friends express their loyalty to and support of the SIUE School of Pharmacy through their annual donations.  All of these gifts, regardless of size, are greatly appreciated.  The first gift from a new graduate is just as important as the sizable contribution of a long-time donor.  Both represent a real commitment to the SIUE School of Pharmacy.

Investing in the SOP through annual gifts allows you to truly make a difference in the lives of today’s students.  Unlike endowed gifts, annual gifts are used in the current operating year, providing discretionary funds to be allocated where they are most needed.  This kind of flexibility allows the School to maintain programs and continue to educate pharmacists, preparing them for the health care and educational challenges ahead.

Designate Your Gift

The motivations of donors are as varied as the initiatives their gifts support.  While unrestricted annual gifts allow us the greatest flexibility to allocate funds where they are most needed, donors may designate their gifts to specific programs within the School of Pharmacy.

Unrestricted Annual Contributions - Unlike designated gifts, unrestricted annual contributions are used in the current fiscal year, providing discretionary funds to be allocated where they are most needed.  This kind of flexibility allows the School to maintain programs and continue to educate pharmacists, preparing them for the health care and educational challenges ahead.

Annual Scholarships – Scholarship support makes a significant difference in the lives of students today.  Many SIUE SOP students receive financial assistance including merit and need-based assistance.  Scholarship applications are evaluated by a committee of faculty and staff.  Recipients typically receive their scholarships in the Spring semester.

Student Emergency Fund – The SIUE School of Pharmacy Emergency Student Assistance Fund is designed to help students with unexpected emergency circumstances.  The fund is designed to assist students with unplanned financial burdens such as medical expenses, childcare, lost jobs, car repairs or other personal emergency situations which might interfere with academic success.  Students in good academic standing may receive up to $350 through the assistance fund, per year, for a maximum of two times during their academic career at the SIUE School of Pharmacy.

Experiential Stipend Fund - The SIUE School of Pharmacy Experiential Stipend Fund is designed to assist P4 students in good academic standing with Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE’s) expenses incurred with select out-of-state (i.e. non Missouri and Illinois) rotations.  The rotation must meet SIUE APPE criteria along with the student’s curricular requirements and be approved by the Director of Experiential Education before a grant request will be considered.  The maximum stipend amount is $750 and awards are based on funds available, number of awards and estimated housing/travel costs.

Student Travel – This fund supports travel expenses for students chosen to present papers or posters at state or national Pharmacy meetings.  In addition student travel funds assist the various student pharmacy organization members with travel expenses related to attending regional, state and national IPhA, ICHP, APhA, ASHP, NCPA and SNPhA conferences.
