Try-It! Illinois

Friday, October 1 marks the beginning of this year's Try-It! Illinois. Through November 30, Illinois librarians and library users will have trial access to dozens of databases. A wide variety of subject specific and general resources will be available to you at no cost, so use as much as you want.

The website for Try-It! Illinois is http://www.finditillinois.org/tryit/. Access will require a login, which you get from the Info Desk: http://www.siue.edu/lovejoylibrary/services/ask.shtml.

During the next two months, if you're curious about a database you've never tried, want to see what's new in a given subject, or if the library's databases seem to have a gap, go ahead and see what's available. When you're done, tell us what you think at http://www.siue.edu/lovejoylibrary/suggestions.shtml.

Welcome to Cougarville

SIUE Celebrates Homecoming 2010 during the week of October 4-9. Lovejoy Library invites all alums and current members of the SIUE community to visit us and inspect the ongoing renovation of the first floor facilities, the recently-opened North side entrance and patio garden, and the library's newly-redesigned exhibit of Louis Sullivan building ornament (second floor) collected by the late Richard Nickel.

As its special contribution to Homecoming 2010, Lovejoy Library presents a visual display honoring the history of the Mississippi River Festival at SIUE. Created by Kathy Bouman, the current display (located on the first floor) is based upon resources developed by University Archivist Steve Kerber, and his associate Amanda Bahr Evola, for their MRF book and for the Archives' MRF website http://www.siue.edu/lovejoylibrary/archives/mrf/index.shtml.

On Friday, October 8, a compilation of timeless classic songs of the 1960s and 1970s performed by the same artists who performed them onstage at the MRF will be played in Lovejoy Library and snacks will be distributed. Please come visit us and join our Homecoming party.
