Congratulations to the following students who will be recognized at the SIUE Honors Day Convocation on April 17:

Friends of Lovejoy Library Honors Award - The award is given for scholarship, based on grade-point average during enrollment at SIUE:

Andrew Klostermann is a student worker at the School of Dental Medicine Library in Alton. Andrew is a senior majoring in sociology.

Carol Ammon-Friends of Lovejoy Library Development Award - The award is given for progressive development of job skills and work performance and superior grades.

Kathleen Copeland is a student worker in the Music Listening Room. Kathy is a senior and majoring in music.

Jennifer Staten is a student worker in Microforms. Jennifer is a senior majoring in health education.

Senthil Subramanian is a student worker in Technical and Access Services. Senthil is a graduate student majoring in engineering.


Graduate Library School Award - The award is given to an SIUE graduate who is pursuing an MLS degree.

Matt Schmitz attends library school at U of I at Urbana-Champaign and is a Reference and Instruction Specialist in the User Services Department.

Ina Peabody Sledge Award - The award is to honor the memory of Ina Peabody Sledge, Education Librarian by providing a monetary award to a selected student.

Sandra McClendon is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communications and a minor in Mass Communications. Besides being a non-traditional student, Mrs. McClendon works with the Campus of Learners/Family Self Sufficiency Program as the Coordinator of Youth Activities where she tutors, mentors and counsels youths ages 6-18 at Pheonix Courts, a public housing development in East Saint Louis. Sandra anticipates graduation in December 2005.

Friends of Lovejoy Library Outstanding Student Teacher of English Award - The award process is conducted by the SIUE Department of English Language and Literature.

Julie Marie Schloesser of Belleville, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, is the award recipient.
