Ideas. Scholarship. Solutions.
Strategic Planning and Organizational Development: IUR has practical experience in the development of strategic plans-most recently for a children's service provider in Madison County
Grant Writing and Grants Management: The IUR assists faculty in submitting external grants, and is currently working to provide these services on a consulting basis for local government; as a unit of the Graduate School, the IUR has full and regular access to the grants-management arm of the University.
Research Design: IUR research associates are experts at research design and have provided research design assistance for campus faculty, University contracts, and outside agencies
Data Collection and Data Analysis (Qualitative and Quantitative): The IUR has the capacity to collect and analyze data in both qualitative and quantitative fashions; this has been done in support of several faculty members and University contracts, including the program reviews for community college nursing program receiving federal grant funding and a major nonprofit receiving United Way funding
Access to Databases and Assistance in Selecting Appropriate Data: The IUR has access to many robust data bases (census data, economic data, property data), and can readily access more to meet specific project needs
Program Evaluation: IUR has capacity to do program evaluation for governmental and nonprofit entities; currently, the IUR is working with the State of Illinois to identify evaluation needs for a federally-funded program it administers, as well a local housing authority applying for federal assistance to carry out a major construction project
Handling Large Data Sets for Targeted Project Applications: The IUR has the ability to manage significant size datasets and prepare these for specific project applications; currently, the IUR is working with external funding that examines property tax strategies using a database with tens of thousands of entries
Project Management: The IUR has capacity for project management and oversight of complex programs; last year, the IUR was approached by a nonprofit in Metro East that was a finalist for a substantial EPA grant-beyond what it could adequately manage
The Applied Research Collaborative: The IUR has helped develop ARC, a powerful partnership of applied research capacity at SIUE, Saint Louis University, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis-allowing the IUR to engage additional capacity outside of SIUE's international reach and jurisdictional boundaries; in theory, this multi-university team is powerful enough to accomplish major undertakings
Engaging Expertise: The IUR has the demonstrated ability to engage faculty members from SIUE for specific projects, to assess additional capacity from external professional sources, and supplement existing teams as an effective and reiable subcontractor
