With your support, SIUE faculty can continue developing teaching and research programs that are on the leading edge of academics.&amp;nbsp; These teaching and research programs not only inspire current students, but also attract gifted students.&amp;nbsp; This helps raise the standards of achievement for all students.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;With your gift to support faculty enhancement, SIUE can improve the academic experience by being able to offer our faculty additional opportunities.&amp;nbsp; Faculty enhancement programs provide items such as books and other materials needed for teaching and research projects.&amp;nbsp; Some programs may even include release time for research.&amp;nbsp; Your gift may also help faculty stay up-to-date with the latest computer technology.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Through such programs and the privately-funded Hoppe Research Professor Award and Vaughnie Lindsay Research Professorship Award, SIUE will continue to attract and retain an excellent faculty.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3&gt;The Hoppe Research Professor Award&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p&gt;One example of faculty support is The Hoppe Research Professor Award.&amp;nbsp; The Hoppe Award recognizes faculty members whose research or creative activities can make significant contributions to their field of study.&amp;nbsp; The award supports a significant portion of a faculty member&amp;rsquo;s larger research agenda.&amp;nbsp; This competitive award encourages research at SIUE, which supports SIUE&amp;rsquo;s mission of valuing faculty research.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3&gt;The Vaughnie Lindsay Research Professorship Award&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p&gt;Another example where contributions provide faculty support is the Vaughnie Lindsay Research Professorship Award.&amp;nbsp; Named in honor of former Graduate School Dean Vaughnie Lindsay this award serves to encourage the supportive atmosphere at SIUE for finding internal and external support for faculty research.&amp;nbsp; Awarded for a two-year time period, the professorship provides 50% assigned time for research.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</body>
