<h2>Program Accounts</h2><p><strong><em>Award Accounts</em>:</strong> Award accounts recognize student achievements. These stipulations either contain specific instructions on how to choose a recipient or it may give the responsibility of choosing the recipient to a committee, University official or University office. The majority of the student awards are given at an annual Honors Convocation that recognizes the accomplishments of SIUE’s students. In accordance with University policy, the Foundation coordinates all awards, grants, loans, and scholarships students receive through Foundation accounts with the Student Financial Aid Office.</p><p><strong><em>Benefit Accounts</em>:</strong> Benefit accounts are used for fundraising events so that expenses and profits may be tracked easily. Once a benefit is over and all expenses paid, the remaining profit is transferred to the related account.</p><p><strong><em>Development Accounts</em>:</strong> In essence, a development account provides unrestricted money to a University unit. The unit’s fiscal officer has the authority to spend the money in support of the unit as detailed by the stipulation. These expenditures could include such items as: student recognition and assistance; faculty and staff training and development; equipment and furniture purchases; hardware and software purchases; donor recognition, cultivation and stewardship; conference fees; books and resource purchases; etc.</p><p><strong><em>Faculty Research and Award Accounts</em>:</strong> Faculty research and award accounts recognize faculty research and achievements. These stipulations either contain specific instructions on how to choose a recipient or it may give the responsibility of choosing the recipient to a committee, University official or University office.</p><p><strong><em>Scholarship Accounts</em>:</strong> Scholarship accounts provide financial assistance for students. Scholarships may provide assistance with tuition, tuition and fees, and/or educational costs. The scholarship may be based on academic standing, talent, and/or financial need. Other considerations such as major, residence, high school affiliation, and/or extra-curricular activities, may be taken into account. A University unit or the Office of Student Financial Aid may administer scholarships. In accordance with University policy, the Foundation notifies the Student Financial Aid Office of all awards, grants, loans, and scholarships students receive through Foundation accounts.</p><p></p>
