<p>Engineering students have access to one of the newest engineering learning facilities in the state and have learning opportunities far beyond the classroom. As a result, students have access to resources that allow them to complete complex senior design projects and compete in national and international competitions.</p>
<p>Students are admitted to the School of Engineering after declaring their major. This can be done during their first semester if they have no English or Mathematics deficiencies.</p>
<h3>Transfer Credit</h3>

<p>Transfer students' transcripts are evaluated for general education requirements upon entry to SIUE. Once a student has declared an engineering major, the transcript is further evaluated by Engineering Student Services for engineering-specific courses.</p>
<h3>Accreditation</h3>
<p>What does accreditation mean and why is it important? Accreditation is the process through which a program receives certification as meeting a prescribed industry/professional standard. It means that our students receive the education in their fields that best prepares them for licensure, certification, and employment in their chosen fields.</p>

<h3>After Class</h3>
<p>The School of Engineering offers several opportunities to take your education even further.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Student Organizations</strong> - Student organizations offer everything from low-key communities of individuals sharing common interests to nationally competing groups.</li>
<li><strong>Undergraduate Research Opportunities</strong> - Undergraduate students have several opportunities to work with faculty to do research in their fields. Additionally, students may become research fellows to work with faculty to do research for local companies.</li>
<li><strong>Cooperative Education & Internships</strong> - The School of Engineering is partnered with many local industry leaders to provide educational placement with these firms during a student's Junior and Senior years.</li>
<li><strong>Tutoring Help Desks</strong> - Certain fundamental engineering courses must be mastered for students to do well in higher level classes. Help desks are located in the engineering building atrium and are manned in the afternoons by outstanding undergraduate students recommended by their professors.</li>
