Incentive Funds

The Adventure of the American Mind Program, School of Education at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Library of Congress is pleased to provide an experienced instructor and technical specialist at each workshop and technical support at no cost to the school or participating K-12 teacher. In order to provide more technology to the schools, the program is offering technology as an incentive.

How much money is available to my school to purchase equipment?

In addition to the incredible professional development opportunity, we are delighted to be able to offer your school money to purchase technology equipment for use in teaching and learning. The amount of money that is available to your school is determined by the number of hours completed and meeting the minimum number requirement of teachers participating in each workshop. Schools with small percentage of teachers can “partner” with another school/s within the same district at consistent grade levels while schools agree to divide the monies.

The basic formula is:

Basic Workshops:
10 teachers (minimum) complete 12 hours = $1500

Advanced Workshops:

Items Suggested for Purchase with Incentive Funds

The following is a suggested list of items for purchase using your incentive funds. This is a general list and we are happy to consult with you on specifics (brand, specifications, etc.).

• LCD Projectors
• Computers
• Scanners
• Printers
• Software (web development, image editing)
• Digital Cameras
• Wireless devices (E.g. Computer-TV connectivity)
• Jump Drives
• CD-RW Drives

Please remember that equipment purchased must:

• be approved by AAM.
• support the use of skills learned in the AAM workshop series.
• be available for all teachers who participated in the workshops to use.

The AAM program will purchase the equipment on your behalf. Funds will not be disbursed to your school.
