We welcome your interest in our programs.&amp;nbsp; At any time, we would gladly meet with students who may have an interest in one of our majors.&amp;nbsp; If interested, please contact our office at 618.650.3940 or stop by Founders Hall 1110.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Once a student declares a major within the School of Education, they will be assigned a School of Education professional advisor specific to that major&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Secondary Education majors: &amp;ldquo;Secondary Education&amp;rdquo; is not a separate major at SIUE, but rather a specific track within your content major leading to teacher certification.&amp;nbsp; Secondary Education students will work with an advisor within their content area for general education and content area related matters.&amp;nbsp; Students will also be assigned an OCECA advisor for all coursework and processes related to Education.&amp;nbsp; Please make sure your content advisor is aware of your intent to become a teacher to ensure you are taking the correct courses within your major.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Please select a major for specific advising information:&#13;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Testing Information: &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For detailed information regarding the testing procedure and requirements, please click &lt;a href="/id0904f67a8057846b"&gt;HERE&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Fingerprint Background checks: &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All students entering a teacher education program at SIUE are required to undergo a criminal background check prior to any field placements.&amp;nbsp; This is typically completed in CI 200.&amp;nbsp; Students who transfer in an equivalent course will have to complete the background check prior to any field experience. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.accuratebiometrics.com" target="_blank"&gt;Accurate Biometrics&lt;/a&gt; will come to campus to facilitate the background process.&amp;nbsp; Students will pay Accurate Biometrics directly (currently $50).&amp;nbsp; Students must complete the background release form which will remain on file in OCECA.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Students will not be allowed to continue in a teacher education program if they have been convicted of one of the &lt;a href="http://www.isbe.net/pdf/guidance_chr.pdf" target="_blank"&gt;enumerated offenses&lt;/a&gt; as set forth as prohibiting one from becoming a certified teacher in the State of Illinois.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fingerprint Release Form [&lt;a href="/id0904f67a805a47ed" target="_blank"&gt;PDF&lt;/a&gt;]&lt;br /&gt;Spring 2009 On-campus Fingerprint Dates [&lt;a href="/id0904f67a805a092c" target="_blank"&gt;PDF&lt;/a&gt;]&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
