<p>The SIU SDM Alumni Association hosted a record number of alumni at the <a href="http://www.siue.edu/dentalmedicine/news.shtml#Homecoming">4th Annual SIU SDM Alumni Homecoming</a> on October 2, 2010. The 2010 Homecoming, including a Picnic Lunch, a Continuing Education program and an Alumni Reception--encouraged over 100 alumni, faculty and friends to join us on campus on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The day started with a picnic lunch on the lawn in front of the Science Building. Following lunch, alumni walked over to Hoag Hall to participate in a continuing education seminar sponsored by GC America and presented by Dr. Brian Novy of Loma Linda University. After the CE program, alumni, faculty and friends gathered in the newly renovated lower level of the Administration Building to share an enjoyable evening with classmates and colleagues. The 5th Annual SIU SDM Alumni Homecoming has been tentatively scheduled for October 1, 2011. </p>

<p>On May 7, 2010, we hosted the <a href="http://www.siue.edu/dentalmedicine/news.shtml#Golf" target="_blank">15th Annual Mac McKenzie Prophy Cup Challenge Golf Tournament</a>. The Prophy Cup Challenge continues to represent one of the SIU dental school’s most anticipated alumni events. Proceeds from the golf tournament support the Mac McKenzie Prophy Cup Challenge Faculty Recruitment and Retention Endowment and Development Funds, which allow the SIU dental school to continue to offer our dental students excellence in dental education by providing the resources necessary to recruit and retain outstanding faculty members. The golf tournament is traditionally held at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course, an Arnold Palmer designed and managed facility, one of the finest golf courses in the Midwest. The event is scheduled each year on the first Friday of May, which will be on May 6th in 2011.</p>

<p>On February 26, 2010, the SIU School of Dental Medicine once again hosted our annual <a href="http://www.siue.edu/dentalmedicine/news.shtml#Midwinter" target="_blank">Midwinter Alumni Reception in Chicago</a>. We were delighted to see over 125 guests in attendance, including over 85 SIU SDM alumni. Our annual Midwinter Alumni Reception continues to be a very popular alumni event. Each year on Friday evening during the Chicago Dental Society's Midwinter Meeting, we invite our alumni, faculty and friends to meet at the Hotel InterContinental-Chicago, located on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. The event has grown through the years and traditionally enjoys the company of over 100 alumni, faculty, students, and friends. The <a href="http://www.siue.edu/dentalmedicine/continuing_education.shtml#Midwinter">2011 Midwinter Alumni Reception</a> will return to the Hotel InterContinental Chicago on Friday, February 25, 2011. We hope to see you there!</p>

<p>Also, during the year, we try to help those alumni celebrating the anniversary of their commencement from the dental school to arrange a Reunion Reception. During 2010, the Class of 1975, the Class of 1985, and the Class of 1990 celebrated their 35-Year, 25-Year, and 20-Year Reunions, respectively. Please feel free to let us know if we can help coordinate a reunion event for your class.</p>
