<h2>Faculty Recruitment & Retention Fund</h2>
<p><img height="166" border="0" style="float:right; margin-right:10px; margin-bottom:10px; " width="250" alt="" src="http://www.siue.edu/dentalmedicine/alumni/img/Faculty1.gif" />The Faculty Recruitment and Retention Fund directly funds efforts that support the recruitment and retention of the SIU School of Dental Medicine faculty. Your gift will help us recruit and retain faculty in an increasingly difficult job market.</p>
<p>Dental education journals and publications have been predicting the dental education faculty crisis for the past several years, and it is very real. In any given year, 300 to 400 funded faculty positions are not filled throughout the country. Furthermore, some of the most altruistic faculty in dental education are finding the private sector too lucrative, and they are leaving academics for private practice. </p>
<p><img height="170" border="0" style="float:right; margin-right:10px; margin-bottom:10px; " width="250" alt="" src="http://www.siue.edu/dentalmedicine/alumni/img/Faculty3.gif" />At the SIU dental school, we continually struggle to attract qualified faculty, especially in the dental specialties, to funded, full-time positions. In addition, over 30 percent of our current full-time faculty members are old enough to consider retirement within the next 10 years. Clearly, faculty recruitment and retention are critical issues for us.</p>
<p>Your gift to the Faculty Recruitment and Retention Fund will be utilized to supplement salary and benefits for current and new faculty to continue to entice the best faculty to teach at the SIU School of Dental Medicine. Please consider supporting our efforts to sustain the future of the School of Dental Medicine. By working toward a solution to the dental education faculty crisis now, we hope to continue to offer our students true excellence in dental education for many, many years.</p>
