<h3>A Speaker and Film Series</h3>

<p>Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is delighted to host a series of distinguished scholars of Iranian culture during the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters, in addition to screening four Iranian films. This series is intended to provide an open forum for educated discussion about Iran, a nation that is much maligned by the media. The scheduled series of speakers and films will explore the Iranian cosmopolitan community through cultural outlets such as music, literature, religion, poetry, art, and film, wherein contemporary social issues are addressed.</p>
<p>Every event in this series is free and open to the public. This series has been made possible through generous contributions made by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Excellence in Undergraduate Education (EUE) program, the Department of Philosophy, and Student Housing. We are also pleased to work with <a href="http://www.iraniansforpeace.net/" target="_blank">Iranians for Peace</a> to help promote this series.</p>
