<p>Jason Stacy is assistant professor of U.S. History and Social Science Pedagogy. His research interests are in American culture during the first half of the nineteenth century. He is the author of <em>Walt Whitman's Multitudes: Labor Reform and Persona in Whitman's Journalism and the First Leaves of Grass, 1840-1855</em> (2008) and editor of <em>Leaves of Grass, 1860: the 150th Anniversary Facsimile Edition</em> (2009). Stacy also edits <em>The Councilor: the Journal of the Illinois Council for the Social Studies</em> and is the historian for a five-year St. Clair County Schools "Teaching American History" Grant.</p>
