Scholarships and student awards are wonderful ways for alumni to support the current generation of students. Gifts to scholarships or award funds allow you to personally provide assistance to today’s CAS students or future students of the College. The financial need is evident when you consider that more than 74 percent of SIUE students receive some type of financial aid assistance in the form of loans, employment, grants or scholarships.
CAS departments also view scholarships as an invaluable tool for recruiting and retaining top quality students for their academic programs. I think we can agree that having outstanding faculty helps motivate students, but it is equally true that superior students stimulate faculty to become even better teachers. By attracting the best and the brightest students to the College of Arts and Sciences, we continue to raise the bar on the standards of excellence for all of our academic programs.
