As a 1975 graduate of SIUE (BS Medical Technology), I am currently the Laboratory Manager at Christian Northeast Hospital. I’ve been a Medical Technologist and married to Chuck Rathert (BA Mass Communications 1974) for 34 years. We have 3 children, two of whom are SIUE graduates.
Over the years, I have always felt a connection to SIUE, both because it’s so close to my home, and because it’s become part of our family. So when I was asked to help on the Homecoming Committee, I was happy to give something back. I remember in the early ‘70s before we had air conditioning in our house, we would leave the windows open. It made for a long night as we listened to the crowds on the south frontage roads leaving the MRF – it was quite entertaining! I hope that everyone who attended SIUE will come home for Homecoming and see the changes that have enhanced the campus. You will be pleasantly surprised!
