2009 Alumni Homecoming Committee - Jeff Chitwood, '04 BS Kinesiology

As a current employee of the Office of Admissions, I am able to work with the latest generation of SIUE students. Serving on the Alumni Homecoming Committee offers a great opportunity to help plan and promote events that allow students and alumni to connect by celebrating the past and future of SIUE.

While graduating from SIUE just five years ago, I am continually amazed by the growth and momentum on campus. Within the past year alone, SIUE has begun its transition to Division I athletics, rededicated an improved Vadalabene Center, and begun other expansions to the Student Fitness Center, Early Childhood Center, and Morris University Center. Amidst these and other changes, SIUE maintains the pride and community-feel that our alumni remember. SIUE Homecoming is a great opportunity to experience “The e” of today and connect with other alumni to share great memories.

Speaking of memories, I had several great experiences as a student at SIUE, ranging from the excitement of living in Prairie and Woodland Halls to working with Campus Recreation and Intramural Sports. My greatest memories involve profound individuals who became friends, instructors, co-workers, and mentors. I should mention my greatest memory is meeting my wife, Ashley, who is currently expecting our first son and future Cougar! If we don’t see you at Homecoming, we could be in the delivery room, so have some fun for us and I look forward to seeing you at many SIUE Homecomings in the future!
