<body>&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;img height="159" border="0" width="499" alt="" src="/id0904f67a805ed421" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Join the SIUE Alumni Association for the SIUE Alumni Volunteer Day with Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, September 19th!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;15 SIUE alumni, family and friends will join together and help Habitat for Humanity at one of their 28 new build sites in the JeffVanderLou Neighborhood in St. Louis.&amp;nbsp; We will work from 8:00am - 4:30pm.&amp;nbsp; We are also collecting a $10 donation from each volunteer which will be given to Habitat for Humanity St. Louis.&amp;nbsp; The Alumni Volunteer Day is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and give back to the community.&amp;nbsp; Participants will also receive a free alumni volunteer t-shirt to wear during the event.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Habitat for Humanity volunteers can be skilled (often helping out as crew or task leaders), semi-skilled or just willing to learn!&amp;nbsp; The on-site project managers will direct the work and coach us on safety, but you will not be expected to do something you are not ready to do.&amp;nbsp; All tasks are important to the overall goal.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img height="188" border="0" width="205" alt="" src="/id0904f67a805ed40e" align="left" /&gt;All volunteers will be required to complete the &lt;a href="/id0904f67a805ed40a" target="_blank"&gt;2009 Habitat for Humanity St. Louis volunteer waiver&lt;/a&gt;.&amp;nbsp; The waiver will need to be submitted to the Alumni Association as soon as possible by faxing it to 618-650-3694 or mailing it to the SIUE Alumni Association, Campus Box 1031, Edwardsville, IL 62026-1031.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PLEASE NOTE that the 15 volunteer slots have been filled.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Frequently Asked Questions&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;    &lt;li&gt;What do I bring with me on Saturday?&lt;br /&gt;Lunch and water will be provided.&amp;nbsp; Bring work gloves and dress in layers.&amp;nbsp; Wear clothes which can get dirty and stained and study shoes - no sandals, crocs, open toed or heeled shoes!.&amp;nbsp; Bring gatorade, snacks, fruit, hat and towelettes for the porta potties.&amp;nbsp; Bring rain and/or sun protection.&lt;/li&gt;    &lt;li&gt;What about tools?&lt;br /&gt;Habitat for Humanity has tools but if you have then, you are welcome to bring a hammer, nail belt, tape measure, pencil, utility knife, chalk line, tin snips, speed square and any hand tools.&amp;nbsp; Please have your name on your tools.&amp;nbsp; Habitat will not be responsible for misplaced personal tools.&lt;/li&gt;    &lt;li&gt;Do I need safety equipment?&lt;br /&gt;Safety equipment will be available including gloves, hard hats (when needed), safety goggles, ear protection and dust masks when appropriate.&lt;/li&gt;    &lt;li&gt;What will the full day be like?&lt;br /&gt;All volunteers will be on Webster Avenue, just after Sheridan Avenue on the east side of the street at 7:50am.&amp;nbsp; We will turn in our paperwork, sign in and get our ID buttons.&amp;nbsp; Habitat staff will direct us to our house and answer any questions.&amp;nbsp; We will break for lunch at the house leader discretion.&amp;nbsp; After lunch, we will continue our tasks to completion, clean up, and return tools and materials.&amp;nbsp; The work day will end when all of this is done around 3:30-4:30pm.&lt;/li&gt;    &lt;li&gt;Will I meet the homeowner?&lt;br /&gt;Yes!&amp;nbsp; Homeowners need 450 hours of sweat equity before they can move in after their house is finished so they will be working hard to get enough hours.&amp;nbsp; Be sure and introduce yourself and take some time to get to know him/her and the family.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;For more information, please review the Habitat for Humanity St. Louis &lt;a href="/id0904f67a805ed40b" target="_blank"&gt;volunteer brochure&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="/id0904f67a805ed409" target="_blank"&gt;driving directions&lt;/a&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Check out photos from the &lt;a href="/id0904f67a8058e777"&gt;2008 Alumni Volunteer Day&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;</body>
